I recently learned about this OS and was trying to see if it might be able to accomplish a goal easily for me. My ultimate goal is to build a small NAS I can set up at my mom’s place and have it auto-backup folders on her computer. Ideally a low/no maintenance setup for her as I live 4 hours away. I was trying to do a proof of concept with this before I started investing in new hardware for the job.
I’ve just done a clean install of the latest non-beta v1.4.2 on a retired laptop as a proof of concept. The web interface works fine, but I can’t get the desktop client to work (windows 11, client version 2.1) I’m getting a message of “Device connection not ready” when I try to log in with it.
I have tried the advice here and it went from failing to log in as mentioned, to failing to every find the server. I had to fully uninstall the client and ZeroTier and re-install the client to get back to where I started. I also found this post, that doesn’t seem to help.
All devices I am using are currently wired connections to the network, no internal filtering/firewalls or subnets at home where I have this set up.
My test ‘server’ is an Ryzen 7 5700u, 32bg ram.
