I got the device last weekend and tried installing Proxmox. And then I start seeing the device automatically restarted or even shutdown.
Checked the sensors data from the lm-sensor tool and see the highest temperature of the CPU got the 100 ° C. I guess that’s the reason on why it got rebooted or shutdown. And this makes me even unable to install the Nvidia driver in the PVE.
So I’m looking for cooling solution and see this new update here. Good to know this. Hope we can get this ASAP. Can we start this replacement program this week instead of Sept.?
this sounds like your fan may not be correctly seated, have you rotated and repasted the fan? I never hit 100c, ever on stock cooler and pasting. Those that have seem to have had poor pasting or the fan heatsink on stock not sitting correctly because they hit the top of the caps.
I got the backer email, but it appears the free fan is only for Zimacube Pro and Creator Pack users. Will N-100 ZC backers like me have access to new fan also? I have no problem with being responsible for shipping etc.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll check that after I receive my NH-L9x65. Currently the device is shutdown and looks like have some problem. When the device starts up, it would hang and output from the onboard HDMI is blurred. So I turned it off. As my order of NH-L9x65 is already on the way, I’ll try replacing the cooler. And at that time, I can check if the original pasting is poor and see how the new cooler works.
Just to update this: yes, the screws of the original cooler were loosen. So it was not seated correctly.
Now I also replaced it with NH L9x65.
But still see the temperature goes up to more than 90 when just installing some apps from the zimaos app store. And also set the Fan mode to “Full mode” in BIOS.
the biggest impact to temps is repasting between the die and IHS - but this is not for the faint of heart
you might get a 2c to 5c repasting between the IHS and Heatsink
