ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 5060 GPU with ZimaBoard2

I am thinking of buying the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 OC Edition (PCIe 5.0, 8GB GDDR7, DLSS 4, HDMI 2.1b, DisplayPort 2.1b, 2.5 slot design card.

I want to use it with my ZimaBoard2 with the GPU expansion box and OCuLink PCIe card I also got with my Kickstarter package.

Do I need to install any software drivers on the ZimaBoard2 when I have connected up the hardware. If possible a list of the command steps would be great.

Thanks for any help, Gavin.

I found the post Tutorial: How to use RTX 50XX Series GPU on ZimaOS? - Operating System / ZimaOS - IceWhale Community Forum from 777-Spider kindly posted. I assume this is the procedure to follow?

:+1: There’s are recent OS update. My 4060ti didn’t get affected. Still plug and play.

Hi Gavin,

Yes, that tutorial is the correct reference

On ZimaBoard2 with a recent ZimaOS release, NVIDIA drivers are already included. RTX 40-series and newer cards are plug-and-play, so you normally do not need to install any drivers manually.

Once the GPU is connected via the OCuLink expansion box and powered, just boot ZimaOS and verify detection:

lspci | grep -i nvidia
nvidia-smi

If nvidia-smi shows the GPU, you’re done.
Only update ZimaOS or recheck cabling if it doesn’t appear, avoid manual NVIDIA installs.

AJUSAY74’s 4060 Ti experience matches this behavior, and the same applies to the RTX 5060.

Thank you for your reply. I let you know how I get on installing my new GPU card.
