Zimaos smb problem

Good morning

I set up a ZimaOS server with the following components
asus n100 motherboard
16GB Ram
28TB hard drives
sata 6 port pciex card

to my problem

I set everything up and shared individual folders with SMB Share no matter whether as a guest or with a user created or as an admin.

Under Win 11 I can find the zimacube but it doesn’t ask for a password and there is nothing in the zima folder although some folders are shared, even the smb direct link sometimes doesn’t work or I can’t copy or paste anything or win 11 says an unknown error exists.

If I drag and drop data into the file browser itself, it works and runs for the time being and then becomes increasingly slower from 120 Mbit to 10 Mbit plus minus.

I’ve tried a lot but unfortunately without results. The strange thing is when I run the same components with Win 10 and access it via SMB with my Win 11 computer, everything runs constantly at 120 Mbit in the LAN and all SMB shares are found. What am I doing wrong or where can I set it?

I’m still a beginner when it comes to Linux and Zimsos Oh yeah, version 1.25 is on it

Thanks in advance lg

Could you provide a way to connect remotely, or should we communicate on Discord?

Hi yes, that would be possible with the remote thing.

I have a question, some of my hard drives are external. fat and ntfs formatted and with lots of data on it.

They come from a Win10 computer.
Could that be why it doesn’t work properly with zimaos and samba?

I read that NTFS and Linux could cause problems with Samba.

Would I perhaps have to reformat the hard drives under Zimaos so that everything works?

  1. By “FAT,” are you referring to VFAT16/VFAT32 or exFAT?
  2. When we format a disk to NTFS on ZimaOS, it can be successfully used under SMB sharing on Windows 11.
  3. Apart from NTFS/FAT-formatted disks, have you tried using disks with other formats to check if they work properly on Windows 10 via SMB? (This is to ensure that your Windows 10 can successfully mount SMB shares from ZimaOS.)
  4. Regarding your mention of “formatting drives on ZimaOS,” please be cautious, as formatting a drive will result in data loss.
  5. If convenient, could you provide your TeamViewer details for remote assistance?

Hi, sorry, I’m not online often at the moment.

I have now reformatted the hard drive in NTFS and reinstalled it.

Now when I want to copy files from Win11 it tells me under Windows that I don’t have write permissions, where can I change that so that it works???
