Zimacube Pro / UnRAID: fan control

Is it possible to control the fan speed with unraid and a plugin?

Andy

I have the exact same question and would like to add that I can’t even display the fanspeeds (system, CPU, rear).
@GekoCH can you display them?

To give some background information on the subject…

My understanding is that the chip on the drive plane is an IT5570E. A brief Google search revealed that ITE, the chip maker, does not publicly release the datasheet on that chip. That datasheet is necessary for software developers to create the kernel modules that enable automatic fan control.

There are threads going back several years on the projects that create and maintain sensor packages for Linux requesting this feature. Each time, the result is, “Until we have the datasheet, we can’t do anything.”

Since IceWhale is an OEM, ITE might provide them with the information. Creating these kernel modules requires specialized skills. It is possible, but will likely take time.

I believe at least two companies use IT5570E chips and have working fan controllers. I didn’t have enough time to investigate how they got them to work.

Thanks so much dfarning I love background information!!! And I wouldn’t have found out about the chip either … I also found the following https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comments/1edey2n/comment/lf9fidp/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button → better link → https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comments/1edey2n/problem_with_fan_control_on_gigabyte_g5_kf/

But I don’t know if I’m brave enough to take a closer look/ try it out … I’m a linux beginner …

I hope someone (you? :)) knows more about it …
