Purchased a ZimaCube Pro Creator’s Pack. Had some issues with hard drives not showing up even though they were on the Compatibility List. RMA’d them because 4 of the 6 failed to ever show up in the ZimaCube or any other computer I have.
Set everything up after getting new drives, installed a few apps, and copying about 1TB of data onto it, it would just overheat and shut down. I’d have to wait an hour or more for everything to cool down before it would start up again, and starting up would be a hassle. It would power on, but nothing on screen, and IP would not be reachable. I’d have to shut it off, wait a few minutes, and try again. It normally took me 5 - 8 tries before it would power on and stay on. Ambient air temp less than 20C as I like my office cold year round. Finished copying everything over in small batches and all was mostly well.
I went away for work for about three weeks and tried turning my ZimaCube back on yesterday. Nothing. I’ll either get a black screen or every once in a while, I will see the BIOS splash screen, but it just freezes on that. I have tried numerous times over the last two days to get it to boot and nothing. Have reached out to support but they are often slow to respond or completely unresponsive.
Anyone else have or have had similar issues?
Running what was the latest and greatest ZimaOS as of three weeks ago and the latest BIOS.
Seems my ZimaCube Pro suffers from a similar problem: After working just fine for a few months, the ZimaCube crashed at some point at night a few weeks ago and since then fails to boot. The disks spin up, but the CPU fan does not turn on, no splash screen, nothing. Tried removing individual components (disks, single RAM modules), but nothing helped, including a CMOS reset. @NietZoGoed: Did you ever figure out a way to resurrect your ZimaCube?
Nope. Still dead. Very frustrated. Support has been absolutely useless. No response until I email about 4-5 times. Left a one star review and that got some attention where someone pinged someone else to assist me.
That was four days ago.
I’ve reseated everything. Reapplied thermal paste to the CPU. Just, nothing. Tried a new NVME for the OS. Still, nothing.
@tylerdh12@mindfire753 I am sorry that you encountered this problem. Please get in touch with the after-sales service support@icewhale.org, and attach the detailed description of your issue. Hope this is helpful.
I eventually was sent a replacement. No idea what went wrong with the first one. Tested the NVME and the RAM and they both tested fine so now I have spares. Figure it’s a CPU or motherboard issue as even with no drives, I can’t get it to POST. Had to raise all kinds of hell and chase them weekly for an update but eventually one was sent and it’s been working great ever since.
