ZimaCube arrive - OS for production systems

So my ZimaCube arrives this days. Because ZimaOS is still in Beta, what OS did you run on your ZimaCubes for production systems?

Kind regards
Daniel

I don’t think there is a perfect alternative yet. Historically, which is in computer terms the last 20 years, storage servers and compute servers (VM and containers) have been separate devices. You had two devices running on network with a cable between the two devices. This is the model followed by all the big players.

Converged systems, where shareable storage and compute are on one machine, is relatively new. Few, if any, of the large enterprise players who fund most development are interested is converged. In general, the current market consists of software that does one thing really well and kind of does the other.

That being said:
Computer server side–
Proxmox - Really good for leaning and managing VM.
XPC-ng - Really good for managing clusters of VM, kind of complicated of beginners.

Storage server side–
TrueNAS - Widely used storage server, can be complicated for new user.

Converged server–
Unraid - This is a smaller start up that is exploring the space - Only paid software on this list.
Open Media Vault - Small project, one or two primary developers, loyal following.

Make your own - Start with a simple Linux server install, install and tweak services to meet your needs.
