ZimaClient Mac (2.3.1) stuck on "Device connection not ready"

Hardware: ZimaBoard, connected via LAN cable to router
Client device: Mac mini, connected via WiFi (same LAN/subnet)

ZimaOS version: 1.7.0 (latest)
ZimaClient version: 2.3.1 (latest, macOS)

Issue:
After updating ZimaOS to the version before 1.7.0, ZimaClient on Mac fails to connect, showing “Device connection not ready” and hangs indefinitely on “Connecting”. Some on 1.7.0

What works:

  • Web dashboard (http://) loads and works perfectly in browser
  • ZimaClient (iOS) on the same Mac connects without any issue
  • Ping to the ZimaBoard IP is healthy (5-16ms, 0% packet loss)

What I’ve already tried (no change in behavior):

  1. Disconnect/reconnect in ZimaClient, re-scanned and found device under correct IP
  2. Fully uninstalled and reinstalled ZimaClient (checked ~/Library/Containers, ~/Library/Application Support, Caches, Preferences — no leftover Zima/casaos config found before reinstall)
  3. Restarted ZimaBoard via web dashboard
  4. Toggled Remote Access off/on, generated a new Network ID
  5. Connected using “Connect via Network ID” directly (not scan) with the newly generated ID — still hangs and seems to exceed max connection attempts

Given that the web UI and iOS client both work fine but the Mac desktop client fails consistently even with a fresh Network ID, this looks like a client-side or backend-handshake bug specific to ZimaClient macOS 2.3.1 + ZimaOS 1.7.0.

Happy to provide debug logs if there’s a way to export them from the Mac client — let me know how best to do that.

We are testing a new remote solution, which is especially fast and stable. Would you like to try it?

I have the exact same issue with no solution.

Is the error occurring on a local area network or a remote connection?

Same issue here - but I blamed it on the fact I’m running the beta version of the latest MacOS.
My Zima is connected via Ethernet hub

what’s again the address for the webUI? it used to be via findzima.com - but seems the web link is gone.

Local: Zimaboard is connected to the router via LAN cable, Zimaboard is accessed from Mac mini via the router’s WLAN. This setup worked fine until recently.

Thanks for the offer. That’s not a use-case for me: I am not using the Zimaboard remotely, just as described via WLAN from a computer connected to my router (which the Zimaboard is connected to via cable).

What version is your Mac?
Please check if this is open?

That was it. Thanks!

As it worked before, I guess this setting was not needed before or it has changed (although I wouldn’t know how).

its work now?

Yes, it does. That’s why I marked your answer as the solution to my problem. Thanks again!

Hi there - I’m using the new beta MacOS Golden Gate. The setting for local networks is on. But it is not finding it. However, the finder can connect and show the drive. I just can’t get to the admin portal. .

Thoughts?

Is your version macOS 27? Please take a screenshot of the issue you encountered.
