ZimaBoard 232 – No video output, solid red LED, won’t POST

Hey everyone,

my ZimaBoard 232 suddenly stopped working and I can’t get any video output anymore– no BIOS screen, nothing.. It seems like it’s not POSTing at all. The red LED stays on constantly (no blue light or blinking). Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • I tested with a different power supply, DP cable, and monitor — same result.
  • I tried bootable USB sticks with CasaOS and Linux Mint, but I can’t even reach the BIOS or see any signal.
  • I also removed the CMOS battery for about 5 minutes to reset it — still no change.

At this point, I’m not sure what else to try.
Is there any way to reflash or recover the BIOS, or could this be a hardware failure?
Any advice or steps I can take to diagnose this further would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

After removing the CMOS battery and attempting a restart, did you observe the device’s red indicator light briefly illuminate, then turn off, and subsequently light up again? (You don’t need to reinsert the RTC battery.)

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes exactly that happens.

Since the indicator light was on and showing a normal status—meaning the device had passed its own self-check—I was a bit thrown off and started looking into other possibilities. So, just to double-check: was the monitor cable securely connected before you powered on the device, and was the input on the monitor set to the DP port?
