is there a way to a backup of one zima machine with everything in it but a couple of folder and restore or store a backup somewhere
or like a failover option between two zima machines?
I am very interested in complete snapshots option per app based + entire ZimaOS.

At the moment does not seem there is such a way unfortunately. That is the #1 tool needed for every home user. There are 3 tools I have explored to do something like that and the best ones in my option are BackRest and ZeroByte
Which should I choose for a whole zima os backup of os and AppData along with anything else needed to spin my main zima host from scratch and I’m not worried about media for jellyfin or immich
As far as I know, none of it will do it. You need to run Proxmox for this or TrueNAS. ZimaOs does not support this as far as I know YET. That should be their priority. I use Backrest and ZeroByte they make copy of my docker compose, data and config (AppData), on internal + external disk. If worst come I will need to reinstall ZimaOS than Backrest and restore from backup… but is not 1 click snapshot process.
