Having trouble installing zimaos on my upgraded system. Indefinitely stuck on “Booting ‘ZimaOS Installer’”
I have followed the installation guide and verified that:
- Balena Etcher was used to create bootable media
- Secure boot is disabled
Full hardware specs:
Intel 265k CPU
Intel Arc Pro B50
Gigabyte B860I motherboard
Western Digital SN8100
32gb DRR5 6000mt/s CL30
I’ve installed the OS before without issue. Any ideas about what the problem is here?
Thanks in advance.
I had the exact same problem on new Intel hardware and worked around it by running ZimaOS inside Proxmox, which has been rock solid.
I suggest doing the same for now.
This is simply not supported at the moment on bare metal with newer Intel platforms.
I believe bare-metal installs will work once official support is added.
If you search this forum, you’ll find plenty of guides and help on setting up ZimaOS on Proxmox, it’s a proven and stable approach.
Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it. Is there much of a difference as far as configuration of services given that it’s a virtual environment vs bare metal? Added complexity for giving your Zima containers (Emby, etc) access to hardware and such?
I’ve never used proxmox before and am curious how that works. I’ll definitely install on proxmox if there isn’t much added complexity.
Thanks again.
Update:
Attempted to install using exact same steps except using the .ISO installer file. I’m now able to install, but am stuck on “Booting slot A (OK=0 TRY=0)”.
It continuously loops and will not boot.
At present, the CPU adaptation of Intel Arrow Lake is still being tested, so please be patient.
