Having tried CasaOS in Virtualbox on top of a Ubuntu server installation, I decided to try installing it on bare metal running Mint 22.2 XFCE. In part, I was reassured by the fact that you can uninstall CasaOS with a single command. After I’d tried it out and decided not to keep it on that platform I ran the uninstall script/command.
I thought nothing of this until a few days later when I was trying to play media from one of my original samba shares (pre-CasaOS) using Kodi on my TV. It didn’t work! After some investigation, I discovered that my smb.conf file had been renamed to make way for one created in CasaOS. The CasaOS one was NOT removed after uninstallation. Luckily, I found it easily but I feel better safeguards might be required to prevent this happening to others.
I am also wondering what else might need tidying up.
