[Solved] Migration problem report

Why when I try to migrate my Library I get the “something wrong :(” message?
I have a test NAS with a 128GB SSD with the OS on and a 500 GB HDD for data only.
I literally have nothing on it, just Immich with ONE photo in it for testing purposes.

I have the same problem using version 1.5 beta, although had it also on 1.4.3 and 1.4.4, so never succeeded any migration. Hope the team can investigate this.

Hey, guys. I have moved your post to this new topic for a more focused view. To better help you, would you guys reproduce it and take a screen record of it? Upload the whole process videos here and our engineer will look at them. Also attach with the specs of your hardware. Thanks, and look forward to your feedback.

Hi, First of all my system specs:
using ZIMAOS version 1.5
CPU: Intel(R) Core™ i5-6500T CPU @ 2.50GHz
4 Cores / 2.40 GHz / 4 Threads
RAM: 2 RAM 16 GB total / 2667 MHzDDR4
GPU: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 530 (rev 06)
ZimaOS installed ok NMVE 256Gb
Second SSD of 120GB for Data (as test later I change this to & 1Tb Drive)

So I want to migrate the User database from ZimaOS-HD to the second SSD drive called “sda1”.

Step 1: Select the target disk

Step 2: Confirm the transfer

Step 3: Migration in Process

Step 4: Result of migration - always fails, where can I find a logfile of this process? maybe that could help you’re investigation.

Step 5: Finally nothing has been migrated

Note: The sda1 destination drive is not empty, there are already exiting files on it.
So as matter of test I removed all the data from the target disk and repeated the migration process.
Same as before: NO Migration took place.

Note: Just before the Migration failure screen is shown, I see a message flash “Stop Docker”

As last, there are no Apps installed on the OS. (I’ve removed them all for the Migration test)

Copy it. Our engineer is looking at it.

Thanks for looking at it.

Thanks for your feedback, we have located that the reason for the migration failure is related to the file system of the drive letter of the target path, you can format your sda1 to ext4 format and try again, the final permission copy list cannot be copied, resulting in failure, we will improve it later

After formatting the disk to EXT4, the migration worked perfect.
So we can state now that when your disk is formatted as NTFS migration will not work.

Thanks for investigating this issue and providing a solution.

We expect to fix this compatibility issue in version 1.5.1

Godd morning everyone.
I’ve been busy lately and I just saw the solution. Thank you.
I figured it out too it might have had something to do with the file format since I formatted the HDD from windows and then put it inside my test NAS.
Once I formatted from within the ZimaOS it all works out.
Thanks again.

Hello there. I updated to the 1.5.1 beta and I still have this issue. Formatting the disk from within ZimaOS did not help either.

I have a raid 0 setup on a pair of 1TB disks that were formatted in Zima. I have the same issue with the migration failing… I will check what filesystem they are but assume if they were created by ZImaOS that they wouldn’t be NTFS.

@bricemcintosh @jaymcd Could you please describe your issue in detail and with confidence in a separate topic? I will close this topic in case of chaos.
