Shutdown overnight

Hi, still very much the newbie!

Due to the only location of my upcoming system, I will be needing to shutdown every night. I appreciate that this is not the usual thing to do, but I just wanted to know what procedure would I need to follow prior to shutdown?

I’m guessing that I would need to stop all containers and then stop the raid drives too? Is there a “one click” command I could use to automate the shutdown?

Kind regards.

Hello CogZog, I am ZimaOS‘s PM. I need to get more detials about “Shutdown” which you used.

  1. Before we proceed, are you aware that the system shutdown option is located in the bottom-right corner of the Settings page?

  2. Do you understand that properly shutting down the system won’t affect your stored data?

  3. Could you share the main reason for requiring daily shutdown? This will help us suggest the optimal workflow.

  4. Considering the daily shutdown routine, would you also need automated scheduled startup functionality?

Hi, thank you for your response.

  1. I haven’t actually installed ZimaOS as yet because I’m still awaiting the arrival of my computer case from China. It’s certainly good to know that the power icon is prominent.

  2. I’ve always been a Windows user and have never tried a different OS before so it will be a complete learning course for me. I have been reading and watching several reviews and guides though, which is why I settled on using ZimaOS for my Home Lab.

  3. Due to a family member staying with us in our small 2 bedroom home, we are having to use a sofa bed in the main living room. Therefore, we need to shutdown the computer each night and restart it again in the morning due to the fan noise etc. With a Windows 11 system, it was simply a case of clicking the shutdown icon but with a NAS type of system, I wondered if I would need to stop the raid array before shutting down ZimaOS?

  4. A way to customise a scheduled shutdown or startup procedure would certainly be beneficial for myself. Whether this is a benefit to many, I wouldn’t know?

Kind regards,
Colin.
