So I used Duckdns to create a domain name and have been using this
( http://RogerEbert.duckdns.org:2283/photos ) to share my photos with friends and family recently. If i share a single photo or a album they can see what i have shared perfectly without needing to login. If they click the immich icon in the upper left corner they are brought to a login page for immich.
This has worked perfectly for me because i am dealing with a few elderly persons who are bullheaded and or lazy and claim they cannot login to google photos. By doing it this way they do not have to login to anything.
At this point I am unsure how unsecure this is exactly. I know and or realize i am ignorant but i am unsure how this could lead to any harm to me. How could I be hacked? Especially considering I am only sharing this address with people i personally know and am confident will not even attempt to hack me?
I have recently tried to go thru the steps of using netbird, tailscale, and open vpn and have failed at every attempt. Once again I would remind everybody I am completely ignorant on these subjects and am only able to get by while following youtube tutorials step by step like a moronic fool. I have actually only found one tutorial concerning open vpn and i could barely get passed the first few steps before i ran into issues not discussed in the video.
I am curious what everybody’s thoughts on this and how I am doing it are? Also, the duckdns address i gave above is fake and not my actual address to immich.
