Searching For Network Address Installation Issue

I’m installing ZimaOS on a new motherboard but I’m stuck on “searching for network address.” This motherboard utilizes a Realtek 2.5GB LAN. Any ideas?

I do not see an IP Adress assigned for this machine. It it connected via ethernet.

Motherboard model:

Gigabyte X870I Aorus Pro Ice (Rev 1.1)

Thanks.

UPDATE

Looks like the correct driver for this board is RTL8125D. Is there a way to ensure that this driver is loaded during installation?

ZimaOS is Buildroot-based, and the installer kernel does not include the Realtek RTL8125D driver, which is why it gets stuck on “searching for network address” and never receives an IP. There’s no way to manually load or inject the driver during installation.

I suggest using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter (RTL8153 or AX88179) to complete the install. Once ZimaOS is installed, you can keep using the USB NIC or wait for a future ZimaOS release that adds native RTL8125D support.

In short: it’s a driver limitation in the installer, not a configuration issue.

Thanks for the help! That’s disappointing. I just ordered the usb to Ethernet adapter for now.

I see that 8125B is already supported so hopefully the later one is soon. I would imagine it’s fairly popular.

Thanks again.
