As shown in your image, double-clicking opens the PDF. When you say “preview,” do you mean you can preview the PDF by hovering the mouse over it without it being open? Is my description accurate?

thank you for picking up the suggestion for filtering search results by date.
With regards to a preview, the option to hover over the pdf and see more context is certainly an option. I was more thinking of adapting the presentation of the search window to have more surface and be able to “scroll” through the different search results in order to identify the document needed. This would mean creating a split screen, with search results on the left and a preview pane on the right.
