Got my zimaboard a few days ago, and quite happily plugged in an Intel Arc A310 Eco.
The GPU works, but my problem with it is that the fan on the GPU is constantly spinning, even when it’s not in use. I could turn on the zimaboard, go do something else, come back and find that the fan is spinning at full speed even before I’ve logged onto the zima app. Does anyone know how to control this fan? I mean… if the GPU is idle, I kind of figure the fan should be off.
This is expected behaviour for the A310 Eco, not a fault.
That specific low-profile model doesn’t properly support 0 RPM fan-stop, the fan curve is controlled by the GPU firmware, not ZimaOS. Even at idle, the fan will keep spinning, and sometimes ramp on boot.
It’s not a load issue and not something you can reliably control from the OS (especially on ZimaOS). Even on full desktop systems, users report the same behaviour with this card.
Nothing is wrong, it’s just how the A310 Eco is designed.
