You know a NAS like ZimaOS is meant to be on 24 hours, if you are on Windows you can’t access your NAS. You could run Windows in a container? I finally got Windows 11 running in a container, but still can’t figure out how to get it be on the ‘Host’ network. It only works on Bridge for now.
I’m aware NAS should running 24/7. I plan to use my NAS as a media server and backup files from mobile from all family members. From time to time wife will use it as desktop for her light works (you know, MS Words, doing spreadsheet, etc). So yes, occasionally my NAS will reboot to Win.
Thanks for info re. container. I’ll study this further. Are you using ZVM as Win container?
Yes, that checks out and that’s why I decided to run Windows in a dedicated Proxmox VM. After battling with both Win as docker and ZVM it was nearly impossible to get disk passthrough and native LAN connectivity, PVE was the only viable alternative to me.
How do I make it so I can RDP in? With a container I could rdp to the zimaos ip and the container was on 3389 like normal. The IP of my Win 11 VM is not on my network. Never mind. I now have it on the local network. Apparently in the VM it is bridge where in container, bridge is not on the network. How I could have this always on machine share it’s onedrive location…
