Hi, what is the optimal size to view photos on a 4K TV if photos are streamed via Casa OS & Jellyfin? My uneducated guess is that too large or two small images would require up/down scaling which deteriorates image quality. So, the question again - what is the optimal image resolution? Thank you, Z.
For photo playback on a 4K TV with Casa OS and Jellyfin, there are several factors to consider in determining the best resolution:
- Actual resolution of 4K TV. The resolution of an ordinary 4K TV is usually 3840x2160.
- The original resolution of the photo. Photos with too low a score will be distorted if enlarged.
- Bandwidth during streaming media playback. The higher the resolution, the greater the bandwidth required.
- CPU decoding capability. Higher resolutions require more powerful CPU decoding processing.
- A resolution that matches the viewing distance to the screen size. Avoid unnecessary consumption caused by oversampling.
All things considered, my suggestion is to experiment with setting 720p or 1080p resolution, which is roughly equivalent to 1280x720 or 1920x1080.
This can reasonably match the resolution of ordinary quality photos and the spectral resolution of 4K TVs. If the photo quality is high, it can be appropriately increased to 1440p or 4K resolution, but the bandwidth and decoding settings may need to be adjusted.

Hi, thank you for the so detailed reply. I have had good experience with 2560 x 1440 images with the file size around 2 MB. I did not adjust the bandwidth and decoding settings.So far so good. Thank you again, Z.
