New Zimacube, 4 new WD 10TB drives - drives not detected

I just received my new ZimaCube Pro and 4x WD Red Plus 10TB drives. I turned on the ZimaCube and got it setup, then I turned it off, installed my 4 new drives, turned it on, and I don’t see the drives in ZimaOS. I’ve tried seeing them in BIOS - they are physically in slots 1-4, but I see blanks on the SATA controller device list in BIOS on slots 1, 3, and 4 and “Not Installed” on slots 2, 5, and 6. I’ve tried proxmox with same results so i re-installed zimaOS. I tried some 8TB seagate Ironwolfs from my other NAS - same results. I went back to my WD drives and updated the BIOS on the zimacube - same results. ZimaOS seems to be working, but no drives. I tried lspci and see the SATA controller: 5c:00.0 SATA controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1166 Serial ATA Controller (rev 02).
I’ve emailed support@icewhale.org and gotten no response in 2 days. Any ideas of what I could try?

Thanks in advance!

Hey hey

Some drives have issues with a power pin, I had the exact same issue with my drives even tho I had them working on my old NAS, so check this link

Again I had the issue and covering the 3r pin with tape solved the issue

Thanks for the recommendation. I tried it and it didn’t work for my drives. 3 of the drives will not work even when connected to a USB drive caddy. The 4th will. It appears the Zimacube has made the 3 inoperable. Not sure why the 4th survived. I’ve since sent the 3 failed drives to WD for factory warranty replacement.
IceWhale support said they are going to replace my SATA backplane, but it is backordered. Not sure when I’ll get that part in. They said they will address the shipping costs for the drives warranty return to factory.
For now, I’m waiting to see if any of this resolves the issue.
