Regarding files, create a LAN share and mount it on the Zima machine. After that, copy/migrate all your files (including config and data files/folders for the apps) to the new machine through the share.
Regarding Apps, you need to manually install all the apps. After that, you need to set all the corresponding folder paths in the settings panel of the Apps. Therefore, you might also need to open the settings panel to keep a record of the old path settings in the old OS before the migration.
In other words, if you only have one system, there is no upgrade path without starting from scratch?
They are different OSes. You can migrate not upgrage.
I understand that. But maybe there is a way to backup certain components of a CasaOS system to a non-system disk - such as dockers, users, mounts, etc.- which could then be imported into a ZimaOS system installed on the same hardware?
Hey, we have prepared a tutorial to move/migrate from CasaOS to ZimaOS. Hope this is helpful:
Look forward to your feedback.
It is good to know that there is a way to migrate from CasaOS to ZimaOS, if you have two servers.
But, for those of us with only one server, how about a way to migrate from CasaOS to ZimaOS, possibly via a WIndows PC?
The current solution requires you to have two operating systems running. If you only have a server and a PC, you might try migrating files to Windows first, then moving them back after the ZimaOS installation is complete. However, this would require you to handle each application and its associated data individually.
