I reverse proxy using pangolin self hosted. The issue is when ever I tried to play 4K it was “fatal error” and the transcoding is not working for Jellyfin. Anyone experience same issue? How to resolve?

What’s the GPU manufacturer? If it’s AMD then I’ve got bad news for you and me.
In order to better help you solve the problem, I have a few questions:
- Does Jellyfin work properly when not using a reverse proxy?
- What is your hardware configuration?
- What are your Jellyfin transcoding settings?
- Does Jellyfin work properly when not using a reverse proxy? - Yes, it was working when not on a reverse proxy. I can play all of the movies, including 4K, no problem at all.
- What is your hardware configuration? - It was an Intel i5 6500.
- What are your Jellyfin transcoding settings? - It was on the default setting, nothing checked when I chose transcoding. Just the Intel QuickSync and save the setting. I notice that whenever I play a movie, even if it’s only one stream, the CPU fluctuates to 100%.
It was an intel igpu, my processor is i5 6500.
I think the problem is with the reverse proxy. I’ll test it.
Okay, thanks. I don’t think it was the reverse proxy since it was working well on my Unraid servers. But using Zimaos, I can play other 1080p movies, but not the 4k.
So on ZimaOS, can’t play 4k without using a reverse proxy?
Zimaos can play 4k without a proxy. The reason why I need a proxy is that I am sharing my Jellyfin with family and friends.
Additionally, I’m testing it because I want to try Zimaos and see if it can work similarly to Unraid. I will then migrate my servers to Zimaos.
Having an issue with a proxy, this holds me to stay with Unraid.
This seems a bit unbelievable, and transcoding should not be affected by how it is accessed.
