Incorrect CPU core count and RAM frequency in Device Info across multiple ZimaOS versions

Hello,

I found hardware information display issues in Device Info on my system.

Hardware:

- CPU: AMD PRO A10-8770E

- RAM: 8 GB DDR4 SODIMM

- RAM manufacturer: Ramaxel Technology

I have observed these issues not only on ZimaOS 1.8.0-beta1, but also on previous versions, including ZimaOS 1.7.1, 1.7.0 and earlier versions.

1. CPU core count

Device Info shows:

AMD PRO A10-8770E R7, 10 COMPUTE CORES 4C+6G

1 Cores | 2.80 GHz | 4 Threads

However, Linux reports:

lscpu:

- CPU(s): 4

- Core(s) per socket: 4

- Thread(s) per core: 1

- Socket(s): 1

- CPU max MHz: 2800 MHz

Therefore, the CPU has 4 physical CPU cores and 4 threads.

The “1 Cores” value shown in Device Info is incorrect.

The “4C+6G” description appears to refer to 4 CPU cores + 6 GPU compute units, but the separate CPU core count is still displayed incorrectly as 1.

2. RAM frequency

Device Info shows:

RAM

8 GB

1066 MT/s

DDR4

Hardware information from the same system reports:

dmidecode:

- Size: 8 GB

- Type: DDR4

- Speed: 2400 MT/s

- Configured Memory Speed: 1066 MT/s

lshw:

- SODIMM DDR4 2400 MHz

- Size: 8GiB

- Clock: 2400MHz

This RAM frequency display issue is present across multiple ZimaOS versions, including 1.7.1, 1.7.0 and earlier versions.

Interestingly, the ZimaOS 1.8.0-beta1 release notes state that the issue where the memory frequency displayed in Device Info did not match the actual frequency was fixed.

However, on my system running ZimaOS 1.8.0-beta1, Device Info still displays 1066 MT/s.

Could you please investigate:

- Why Device Info reports 1 CPU core instead of 4?

- Which CPU topology information is being used by Device Info?

- Why Device Info displays 1066 MT/s for memory?

- Which SMBIOS field is being used for the RAM frequency?

- Why does the issue remain on 1.8.0-beta1 despite the release notes mentioning a fix?

I can provide the complete lscpu, dmidecode, lshw and dmesg outputs if needed.

Thank you.

Thank you for your feedback. We will make optimization adjustments for your hardware as much as possible.

Hi, thanks for the detailed report.

To help us investigate both issues, please connect to the affected system via SSH, run the commands below, and share the complete output.

==================================================

The diagnostic results confirm the following discrepancies:

- CPU: ZimaOS Device Info reports 1 CPU core, while both lscpu and SMBIOS report 4 CPU cores and 4 threads.

- Memory: ZimaOS Device Info reports 1066 MT/s, while SMBIOS reports a memory Speed of 2400 MT/s. SMBIOS also reports Configured Memory Speed as 1066 MT/s.

- The issue is reproducible on my system running ZimaOS v1.8.0-beta1.

I have included the complete output of all the requested commands below for further investigation.

Thank you.

Thank you for providing the full diagnostics.
We have confirmed that showing “1 CPU core” in Device Info is incorrect. Your report lists four online logical CPUs, and SMBIOS reports four cores and four threads.
In the full lscpu output from your follow-up, the CPUs are grouped as “4 sockets, 1 core per socket.” The Device Info script multiplies lscpu’s cores-per-socket value by the processor count from SMBIOS, which produces 1 with these inputs. We have identified this core-count calculation issue and are investigating why Linux/lscpu reports four socket groups.
For RAM, Device Info displays the BIOS/SMBIOS Configured Memory Speed. This field is 1066 MT/s in your report, so the displayed value follows our intended behavior. The separate Speed: 2400 MT/s field is not the value used for this display.
To check whether “4 sockets, 1 core per socket” is consistently reproducible, please keep your current ZimaOS version and BIOS settings, restart the device normally two or three times when convenient, and run the following command over SSH after each boot:
lscpu
Please check whether Socket(s) and Core(s) per socket change.
If every reboot still gives Socket(s): 4 and Core(s) per socket: 1, please run the following command once over SSH after the final reboot to download and run the diagnostic script:
curl -fsSL ‘https://zimaos-image.oss-us-west-1.aliyuncs.com/test/collect-cpu-topology.sh?OSSAccessKeyId=LTAI5tNrA6heKFvGAPmmuSQu&Expires=1791533045&Signature=5%2FyNsR9e3eIZhhN2KBFFfUdOxVc%3D’ | sudo bash
The script only reads system information and creates one text report. It collects CPU logical and physical IDs, the kernel’s CPU groupings, BIOS information, and any accessible CPUID/APIC data and relevant boot messages.
When the script finishes, it prints the report’s full path. Please email that single zimaos-cpu-topology.*.txt file as an attachment to lvzhiyuan@icewhale.org. Please mention forum topic #9414, how many reboots you checked, and whether the results were consistent. If some sections are unavailable or skipped, please send the report anyway.
If the result changes after rebooting, for example to “1 socket, 4 cores per socket,” please first tell us what changed and whether the results alternate between reboots.
Also, please confirm whether ZimaOS is installed directly on the M715q hardware or is running inside a virtual machine.
This information will help us identify the source of the unexpected socket grouping. Thank you for your help.

Hello,

I would like to provide a follow-up to my previous email regarding forum topic #9414.

I restarted the Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q four times and ran `lscpu` after each reboot.

The result was consistent after all four reboots:

- CPU(s): 4

- On-line CPU(s) list: 0-3

- Socket(s): 4

- Core(s) per socket: 1

- Thread(s) per core: 1

The CPU topology did not change between reboots. It consistently reports 4 sockets with 1 core per socket.

I have also already sent the requested `zimaos-cpu-topology.*.txt` diagnostic report to the email address you provided.

ZimaOS is installed directly on the Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q hardware and is not running inside a virtual machine.

Thank you for your help and investigation.

Best regards,

I installed zimaos on a PC with an AMD processor but apparently ziamos reads the AMD kernel sensors incorrectly and I find the temperature of one of my 2 nvme as the CPU temperature. It’s not good. These are mine hwmon:
