I’ve rebuilt my Zimaboard2 once again. I’m fed up with the system’s stupidity, which was based on RAID 1. The ability to connect one SSD or NVMe for functional operation is sorely, critically, lacking. I decided on a crazy, even possibly stupid, move: 1. Connect a second HDD via USB and combine them into a RAID array. 2. Connect the SSD containing the containers to SATA. I’m only a little worried about one thing: not losing power and signal via USB. Incidentally, it just dawned on me; I haven’t checked the BIOS settings yet. Please advise how to prevent sudden power and signal loss via USB.
As always, whatever provides power to your setup is the key… Just do the maths, add a (comfortable) margin, and then pick up the PSU accordingly ![]()
But anyway, couldn’t this be what posterity will remember as The Frankenzima ?! ![]()
I’m not worried about the power supply. I installed the original Zima 150W power supply and connected the original 60W power supply to the USB adapter. The main thing is that the software doesn’t disable it. I’ve been testing it for two days now, and it’s working fine. Frankenzima I even like it. ![]()
This setup looks awesome! What are you running on the ZimaBoard 2? Is it a local AI project?
You’re insightful! On two hard drives - NAS. On SSD, Immich, Jellifin, and local AI.
Local AI for what?May I share it on social media? I’ll be sure to credit you—is that okay?
Yes, everything is fine, feel free to share. I’m currently trying to implement local AI in HomeAssistant, and to assist Siri. This will also help my wife around the house. Unfortunately, HomeAssistant had to be reverted to MiniPC because it doesn’t work correctly on Zimaboard2.
