How to update Tailscale?

I installed tailscale through the app store in ZimaOS. It installs v1.98.3. The newest version is v1.102.3, and it doesn’t work with my other computers if it’s out of sync by so much. In Casa OS I could just change the tag manually and it would update, but I can’t do that in ZimaOS. I tried using the YAML but it didn’t work either. Any solutions?

I just manually changed v.1.98.3 to “latest” or “stable” in the yaml and it worked for me.

Sorry to be a newbie in ZimaOS but could you please show me what to change in the yaml?
I have the same issue as Stephenwastaken, and I can edit the yaml but no idea what to change or where.

Hey Peter3245,

Click on the three dots in the top right of the tailscale app. Select manage, then in the top right of the menu next to the x go from form to YAML. Find image in blue text and change “tailscale/tailscale:v1.98.3” to “tailscale/tailscale:stable”. Then scroll all the way to the bottom and change version: v1.98.3 to version: stable. I’m honestly not sure which one actually changes it, I think it’s version. Then click save. Should update. If it prompts you to update in the app store or settings, don’t, it’ll revert back.

it’s the image one deciding the actual image it pulls. not sure what the version field does, i guess it’s for some tracking purpose of ZimaOS.

This approach isn’t working for me, sadly.

I changed the install YAML to point both of those lines to point to “stable”

version: stable
image: tailscale/tailscale:stable@sha256:blahblahblah

What was installed was 1.98.3, as if I had moade no edits

So I deleted the install and did a Custom App install with my own YAML pointing specifically to the current stable version, edited those two lines to say:

version: 1.102.5
image: tailscale/tailscale:1.102.5@sha256:blahblahblah

And what was installed was still version 1.98.3, AGAIN, as if I had moade no edits

I’ve edited the YAML of the running Tailscale to set all the references of 1.102.5 to be “stable” and it remains an instance of 1.98.3 after a few hours of waiting.
