Hello,
I’m trying to set up remote backups between two machines and I’ve run into an issue after switching to ZimaOS.
Setup:
- ZimaBlade running ZimaOS (source machine).
- Remote server running CasaOS (target machine, exports SMB share).
- Both are connected via Tailscale.
Problem:
- When both machines were running CasaOS, I could install Tailscale directly on the host, mount the remote SMB share on my ZimaBlade, and use it as a backup target.
- On ZimaOS, I can only run Tailscale inside Docker. That container joins the tailnet, but the host OS (and Files app) don’t see the Tailscale network → I can’t mount the SMB share anymore.
Question:
- Is there a supported way to run Tailscale at the host level on ZimaOS?
- Or, how can I configure the Docker Tailscale app so that SMB shares from the remote CasaOS server can be mounted in the ZimaOS Files app?
