Title is self explanatory. Google gave me nothing and the only two people who asked about it in 2024 never got a reply back. Dropping this question here with hopes to get an answer from IceWhale team.
Bump on this one. Wonder if this can be integrated on the next releases since it’s such a no brainer stable and simple package?
I may misunderstand what you mean but…
Can’t you click your VM under your Node, goto options and enable QEMU guest agent?
Nope, it doesn’t work like that. You need to actually install the agent on the VM for it to recognize the upstream communication with the host machine.
A simple sudo apt -y install qemu-guest-agent or sudo yum install qemu-guest-agent would do the job, however, neither the apt nor the yum are available in ZimaOS system.
The ask would be to either have those pre-installed or give the user means to do so for anyone virtualizing ZimaOS on PVE.
Ok gotcha… I wasn’t sure, I always enable Guest when I set up the VM. I’m also guessing you can’t install apt or yum on ZImaOS? I obviously haven’t tried.
That’s right. It’s truly locked down system.
sudo: apt: command not found
...
sudo: yum: command not found
...
sudo: pkg: command not found
Yeah I understand. I would look into installing the APT Package Manager itself. Probably like a .DEB file or something. But, i don’t know for sure.
I’m not trying to come across like I know it could/would work. Just giving some ideas. There has to be a way to install at least one of those.
Exactly, hence this thread. Hopefully they can suggest a safe way to do it.
Hey @Zima-Giorgio is this something that could be discussed with the team? Looks like a low hanging fruit. Thanks.
I’d also be interested in the QEMU guest agent on ZimaOS!
Hi, @vipper_666 @MjTech @recipe-farrow.4i . Thank you all for the feedback. For now, we do not have sufficient human resources to implement VM-related features in the short term. But I will record this request, and once we have the proper person for it, it will be fulfilled.
Or, I can make a group for you…
What do you think?
