Has CasaOS been abandoned?
There haven’t been any updates since Dec’2024 and I don’t think any of the GitHub issues are being worked on.
This will be a real shame if it’s no longer being actively developed.

CasaOS is a docker GUI that sits on Debian, as the underlying Debian is pretty stable it doesn’t need as many updates and fixes.
I swell is actually a relatively small team, most of the development work last year has been on ZimaOS to support the Cube.
Icewhale have announced the next hardware project will be a ZimaBoard 2 , but haven’t released any more information or timelines than a few preliminary images.
I would guess that OS is going to get a major upgrade and tweaks when ZimaBlade two is released.
Okay - well that would suggest that almost certainly CasaOS is no longer being supported/developed & I guess it’s time for me to get to grips with NextCloud instead.
CasaOS is just the Docker management side. Its not the entire OS, With hindsight the name could have been better.
The installable apps are being maintained and updated from time to time, or they can be auto updated once installed by the app itself.
As an example NextCloud can be installed under CasaOS as a Docker container or you can put it on the bare metal.
Many of the issues/bugs reported come down to people confusing the CasaOS Docker Management GUI, and whatever how the docker container runs. Sometimes issues are due to the app in the container, or the setup not CasaOS but CasaOS is seen as the issue.
Other times there are issue that are related to people trying to set up bad configurations, load CasaOS on unsupported OS’s or other external factors being changed such as Google changing the way you authenticate for Google Drive access.
Icewhale is a small team and try to keep on top of issues but many of the “bugs” in the GitHub repository are not really bugs in CasaOS, but feature requests, or comments on what people would prefer. Many y of the bugs are also noting more than a one line comment on what isn’t working, with very little detail on what actually went wrong, how to reproduce it etc…
I appreciate the time you’ve taken to write a response and whilst I can understand some of the points you’ve made regarding issues being reported not being directly related to CasaOS as such, I don’t think it’s plausible to simply respond to every issue with silence.
If the same approach had been applied to the automotive industry, we’d all still be driving around in Model-T Fords.
Unless you are seeing something different to the rest of us or there is something new about to be unveiled, then it seems to me that CasaOS is now effectively abandoned.
You are complaining that the latest update was only 2 months ago? Lol
Pi-hole was updated after half a year.
Dockge wasn’t updated since January 2024. And it is still alive.
And so on…
I can’t change you mind if that’s what you think, only tell you what I see and what hardware IceWhale have released and what they have announced is next.
I don’t work for Ice Whale, I’m just trying to help people get the best of of there hardware.
,
casaos is not an operating system
casaos is a container, that helps in running other containers.
all while using debian as the operating system.
the zima team from icewhale, manages casaos.
the zima team has been working on the zima os for the zima cube.
casaos is free, and open source.
THAT MEANS YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO IT.
THE COMMUNITY CAN CONTRIBUTE TO IT.
the casaos works. and there are no serious issues or bugs
i see no problem
Here are the problems:
which, as best I can tell, are being opened, opened, opened…

There are many entries, not all are really problems.
You’ve logged one about OneDrive. Microsoft have never released an official Linux agent, so the workaround usually is to use OneDrive Client for Linux or Rclone.
However neither are official Microsoft apps, so when Microsoft change something (and they do, very, very often) they can break. That means it may be IceWhale, or the upstream developer who needs to fix the issue. .
This does to some extent come back to my earlier point. This probably isn’t a CasaOS issue but something CasaOS is relying on as working.
I know that may not sound like it’s much help, unfortunately because most app developers do this as a hobby, so all takes time.
If you need better timely support, you would need to consider Windows or Mac using paid for apps who’s vendors offer a support contract (usually more cost).
Yes, there are a lot of GitHub issues, with a large number of the more recent ones not apparently progressing at all - which is what led me to ask if CasaOS support/development had ceased in favour of ZimaOS.
Yes, OneDrive integration doesn’t seem to work properly. It mounts & you can browse the folder structure, you just can’t open any files (not even small .JPG). DropBox & GoogleDrive seem to work fine.
As I said not all of the issues are down to IceWhale to resolve and nothing I can say is likely to sway you opinion.
You may want t to check in again after ZimaBoard 2 is released, but Good luck with your Next cloud Journey.
Maybe the version of rlcone is too old. You can enter the terminal, execute
sudo rclone selfupdate
and you will upgrade to version 1.69.1, and then restart the computer. Onedrive should work.
You’re a genius sir! This fixed the issue with OneDrive
