Files won't delete from the hard drive

Hello, I’m having a small problem with my Zima OS. I have a folder where I download things, and when I no longer want them, I delete them via Windows Explorer (Samba). However, it’s not freeing up that space. In Zima, it shows as if the drive is full, the space is occupied, and I can’t find the files to delete. It seems that when I delete the files in Explorer, it doesn’t erase them from the hard drive.

This is normal Samba behavior. When you delete files from Windows Explorer, they are usually moved to a hidden trash folder on the NAS, not permanently removed, so the space stays used.

Check the share from ZimaOS (or via SSH) with hidden files enabled and delete folders like .recycle, .Trash, or .Trash-1000.
Once those are removed, the disk space will free up immediately.

If it still doesn’t, I believe the next thing to check would be snapshots or the disk being part of a pool retaining data.

Hello, thank you for your reply, however I am a novice user. Can I access the trash folder through Zima OS, or does it need to be via commands?

Another question: every time I delete a file, do I need to do it via Zima, or is there a way to do it via Explorer?
