Few bugs - SMB, display issues, speed display

I’ve been running my ZimaCube now for nearly two weeks.

Few bugs (using Safari):

  1. Display problems
  • not all buttons like ‘ok’, ‘continue’ display correct
  • you need to know where the button is - then it will show
  1. SMB disconnecting
  • I’ve been transferring files for the past couple of days. Every morning when I come to my office - the SMB connection has dropped
  • First I thought something is wrong with the ZimaCube/OS. And it kind of is.
  • My WiFi Router is set to reboot at 3 am - once the connection with the internet drops. The SMB connection gets disconnected. But there is really no need. Both computer and Zima are connected via Ethernet to the router. And the computer still has connectivity. I could even reconnect via SMB - while the internet was not connected. But then within 1-2 minutes the connection gets cut again.
This is completely unnecessary - SMB via Ethernet. And ZimaOS needing/wanting an internet connection are two separate things.

Is there a way to remove this ‘safety’. Keep the SMB connection - don’t disconnect.

  1. 10Gb connection
  • Finally got my new switch. 10Gb + Cat 8 cables. The speed is a bit better than before when I only had 1Gb. But it’s still not great. And the widget only shows 3 rockets. Which it did before. I was expecting to see at least 4 rockets to confirm the higher connection speed.

Hello, thank you very much for your patience in raising these important issues. We have decided to follow up on these issues. You will receive a private message from us.

Hi Berthold,

It’s great to hear your feedback again and I think I know the issues you expressed because I feel deeply for them too.

The first problem is that we cannot see the button, only the text, unless we move the cursor to the button, which is as funny as a little frog hiding under the water with only two eyes exposed. We’ve made some fixes and we’ll test whether they work well and gradually reduce the number of places that don’t show up.

We have also noticed the second issue, and we plan to focus on improving the stability and performance of SMB in the next one or two versions.

The third issue is a very ““interesting”” little design. I am very envious that you have :rocket:x3. I even often only have :racing_car:x3.

Thank you very much for sharing your opinions on using ZimaOS.

Hi, Berthold,

There is good news. The version we are currently developing has made progress in optimizing the performance of SMB and has been delivered for testing. Judging from the current progress, it will be available in the beta version planned to be released in two weeks or the stable version in three weeks.

Best,
Orca
