Failed trying to set up Plex (Nvidia GPU) version

Trying to set up the Plex (Nvidia GPU) version. Get an error.

Error response from daemon: failed to create task for container: failed to create shim task: OCI runtime create failed: runc create failed: unable to start container process: error during container init: error running hook #0: error running hook: exit status 1, stdout: , stderr: Auto-detected mode as ‘legacy’ nvidia-container-cli: initialization error: nvml error: driver not loaded: unknown

I wiped my Zimacube to add a gpu and installed 1.2.5.

If the app is shipped with the Pro Creater pack then you would expect that this app has been tested and will work. Doesn’t appear that way…

Need some assistance

I’m sorry for the trouble, we’ve verified that our machine can be accessed properly, so we need to be in the process of identifying the problem. Can you see the graphics card widget on your dashboard?

Yes it was there before I wiped my system to reinstall ZimaOS and it was there after the fresh install. Running normal Plex it never utilized the graphics card and the widget never showed that it changed. It did show the GPU before and after.

So what is the next step? What am I doing wrong?

Uploading a video.

Very very Thanks for your feedback. It help me found some issues.
First of all, the installation error in the video is because plex (nvidia gpu) and plex conflict, and only one can be installed at the same time. But our mistake is not good enough, which leads to this problem.
Then why plex (nvidia gpu) was not successfully installed before, it may be that the gpu of the main device is not working properly. You can enter the terminal and execute nvidia-smi to see if the graphics card is really not working.

If the graphics card is working properly, there will be a widget like this on the left.

I took the graphics card out for this video because Plex (Nvidia GPU) would not install and started rebuilding the regular Plex app.

When I wiped everything (the entire operating system) and before installing anything else, I tried installing Plex (Nvidia GPU) and then this is the error I got. I think something is broken on this Zimacube. I dont get it. Error below…

Also I used 2 different video cards with the same results. They work on a regular computer but not on my Zimacube.

Thanks for the feedback, we’d like to see your command execution ‘nvidia-smi’ in the terminal, as well as your graphics card model.

Following this thread, I got the same/similar problem: No GPU widget, a “No devices were found” when running ‘nvidia-smi’. But the cards is there when running ‘lspci’:

07:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GA107 [GeForce RTX 3050 6GB] (rev a1)
07:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation Device 2291 (rev a1)

I can install Plex (Nvidia GPU) after uninstalling preinstalled Plex app, and I can choose “(Unknown) Nvidia” in decoding in Plex settings, but dont know if Plex uses it ( i think not by the readings of CPU utilization.

So my problem is: No GPU widget, and probably no driver for my card?

Update: If I remove the 3050 card from the PCI-E slot and boot, the “Plex (Nvidia GPU)” icon is greyed out, so the card is noticed by the system. “Plex (Nvidia GPU)” start after the GPU is reseated.

The absence of widgets may be a result of data not being displayed, but failure to display properly when executing ‘nvidia-smi’ indicates that the driver was unsuccessful.

Thanks for your support LinkLeong!

I totally agree on the driver issue suggestion. But since the OS is not a full Debian (as usually for CasaOS) I feel a but lost in the terminal; I don´t even know that command to use for a simple update.

If possible, could you please advice me how to reinstall the GPU drivers, or point me in a direction what to look for in a websearch? As said, I have some Debian/Ubuntu experience, but this is all new to me.

I am on a ZimaCube Pro btw.

You can send me a private message with your remote ID, account number and password, and I can remotely assist you in solving this problem.
