For what it is worth I am running ZimaOS v1.2.3 on a ZimaBlade and also have to reset (really unplug and plug back in) my ZimaBlade almost every day. I don’t know exactly what time of night it loses connectivity but it seems to be around the time when my Plex app is running batch processes. This issue started manifesting only after I installed the Plex server on my ZimaBlade.
OK, no new updates in nearly a week and I’m getting tired of the CONSTANT need to restart my cube. Pretty much a daily occurrence now and it’s flat out ridiculous that nothing has been done to fix this flaw. PLEASE work on this!!! I am sure that I am not the only one who is both frustrated and pissed off about this problem.
Hi,there
We are currently testing this solution, which can significantly extend the time between freezing and restarting. I will keep you updated with any progress.
It was happening to me, my NVME disk friend (thanks Icewhale for the quality product).
I changed it for a Samsung NVME : no freeze since !
Wow, now I changed the room where is stored the Zimacube and the freezes are happening again… Weird !!
Hi. Has there been any progress on this issue? My unit (ZimaCube Pro) disappears off my network after about 10mins after being idle, regardless of which ethernet port it’s connected to. Sometimes with will not appear at all until after a few hard resets. After having the unit for a few weeks, I’ve connected my unit to couple of different routers and swapped out all cables and still will not remain connected to any network. Any suggestions or assistance is appreciated as it’s currently a paperweight that cost me over 2K (with the drives). Please and thanks!
Hi, Gilgamesh. I am very sorry to hear about the issue you’re experiencing. I am part of the ZimaCube team. If it’s convenient for you, please feel free to contact me via email at vicky@icewhale.org, and we will work together to troubleshoot and resolve the problem. Thank you for your patience and support!
Thanks @777-Spider. Much appreciated. I’ll email you directly.
This issue has begun happening again. It began after either v1.2.5 or installing the free upgraded fan. I’m not using ZeroTier.
It’s not every night, but it’s happened twice so far.
The Cube sounds like it’s running normally, and it shows up in Finder, but it cannot be connected to, not on Mac nor iOS. I have to physically restart the Cube.
Once the Cube restarts and I go to ZimaOS, the temperature says 47ºC so I don’t think it’s overheating.
Currently we have two directions for troubleshooting, could you please assist us in troubleshooting if you can.
-
Run a memtest on the memory we suspect is relevant.
-
check the status of the network port light and re-plug the network cable.
Looking forward to your reply!

“Run a memtest on the memory we suspect is relevant.”
How?
The Cube disconnected/disappeared again this morning but I didn’t get to look at the light. I’ll keep that in mind next time.
I do not have an external screen to run such a test.
The Cube went offline again last night and never reconnected. I checked the ethernet port. Both yellow and green lights were illuminated, and the yellow was flickering from dim to bright as if it was active.
However I checked my router portal and the Cube was definitely offline and disconnected from the router. I unplugged and plugged in the ethernet cord but that didn’t fix the issue. I had to restart it.
I’ve sent Vicky an email. Thanks.
Did you try the memory test?
Throwing in my situation here as well. Similar problems to what OP mentioned and after seeing this thread, ran mine connected to a monitor with htop open and waited for it to lock up again. This is all the processes that were pegging CPU, the next most CPU intensive program was htop itself.
I’m waiting on the next freeze to see if there’s a pattern of processes, but maybe this helps shed some light in the moments leading up to a system freeze
Is this a recent development for you?
It’s been going on for a while, maybe a few months?
