Coreboot BIOS support for ZimaBoard 2

Hi everyone,

I want to start by saying that I haven’t bought a ZimaBoard 2 computer yet, but I am considering purchasing one.

I’m curious whether the new ZimaBoard 2 (Intel N150 / Twin Lake platform) could potentially support coreboot firmware.

I couldn’t find any reference to ZimaBoard 2 in the official coreboot documentation or community ports list, so I’m wondering:

  • Has anyone tried flashing or porting coreboot on this device yet?
  • Is the SPI flash accessible for external flashing (SOIC clip, etc.)?
  • Are there any plans from the Zima team to release low-level documentation or open firmware support?

I’m mainly interested in open-source firmware for better transparency and control, so any technical details or dev hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I’d be interested in this as well. Thanks

As of early 2026, there is no official Coreboot port and no documented community implementation for the ZimaBoard 2 (Intel N150 / Twin Lake). The board does not appear in Coreboot’s supported mainboards list, and there are no public reports of successful flashing or bring-up on this hardware.

Coreboot does support some other N150/Twin Lake devices (e.g. Topton/BKHD mini PCs), but those are board-specific ports and still rely on Intel proprietary components (FSP/ME). CPU similarity alone isn’t enough to make a ZimaBoard 2 port work.

There is also no confirmed information on SPI flash accessibility for external flashing, and IceWhale has not announced any plans to release low-level documentation or support open firmware on ZimaBoard 2.
