Afternoon all, I’ve recently had my ZB2 turn up and finally got around to setting it up.
I have an Asustor NAS with 10TB of space which is fine for storage, but the processor sucks. I have mounted the samba share on the ZB so I can use the ZB to run Jellyfin and serve the media. This works well, however I was wondering if it is possible to bypass switches etc. and connect eth1 directly to the NAS so it’s got the maximum speed available to it, while eth0 talks to the rest of the network?
In my head it must be possible, but I’m having a blank and can’t think where to begin!
You will need fundamental networking knowledge first, for that to happen you will need to segment your network into two different subnets - one for each interface. That will allow your ZB to talk to both sides, however, if your Asustor has 2x ethernet interfaces you will be able to do the same and get it to reach the internet just fine but if it has a single ethernet port then it will be completely isolated from the rest of your network unless you activate routing capabilities in your ZB, static routing would do but you will need some IP networking knowledge first, as previously said. Perhaps getting a cheap USB Ethernet card would help you achieve the first scenario in case your NAS don’t have a 2nd ethernet port.
