I’ve been trying to reset my Zima board 832 and I can’t seem to load into BIOS. Everything I’ve tried so far has gotten me nowhere. Main issue I have is, every time it loads in on startup, I hit the Del key and it asks for a password. I’ve tried every password I can think of, default and personal. When I hit enter without anything in the field it lets me in but doesn’t allow me to make changes to the bios, only prompting a few options in blue. I tried multiple monitors, HDMIs, even tried replacing the OS with just straight Ubuntu from a flash drive but it will only either load into CasaOS as normal or prompt for password. I’m willing to try to re-flash the casa img to the board but I haven’t done so since I figured I might run into the same issue not being able to boot from USB. Any help would be great!
can you share a screenshot of the password screen?
It sounds like some has set an Admin password on the BIOS. This lets yo into the BIOS but without the password will not let you save changes. This isn’t set when you get a new ZB from the factory, so if you bought this from someone used you may want to go back them and ask.
If you set set and since forgot, or you cannot get it from any prior owner, there will be a way to reset it by crossing pins or pads on the board PCB.
This isn’t something I’ve seen before, and while you could dismantle it and look for a point marked “BIOS RESET” on the PCB there is a small risk you could damaging the board by shorting the wrong pads so please reach out to support (support@icewhale.org) who can help you further.
Thank you so much for this insight. I’m the original owner but do not remember putting any type of password. I usually keep a good record in book for any and all passwords that I create. I’ve tried all of them and no change. I’ll reach out to support forsure! Thanks so much!
Thank you for the help! Resolution ended up being:
- Remove the backplate of product
- Disconnect the RTC battery
- Power on the device and wait for several mins to check if the device boots properly.
- Power off and reconnect RTC to shorten the boot time.
