It’s a Docker-based web app that makes it easy to install and manage Tailscale or NetBird directly on the ZimaOS host.
It can automatically restore the native VPN client after ZimaOS updates, while keeping its identity persistently under /DATA/AppData. Enrollment keys are used only once and immediately deleted, and everything stays local.
I built it (with the help of AI) primarily because I wanted a simple long-term solution for my second ZimaOS machine at the office to act as remote back-up destination for my main home server.
Specifically, I wanted ZimaOS’s native Backup feature to work remotely over SMB instead of relying on Syncthing to simplify and streamline eveything and while both Tailscale or NetBird can be installed via docker or App Store the 445 port is not reachable that way.
Would be great to have this remote back-up feature work natively someday.
