I was able to install Ubuntu, but not Windows 10. Has anyone successfully installed Windows 10?
I downloaded the ISO image, and during installation, the Windows logo and the loading spinner appear, but shortly after, the screen goes black.
I’ve tried both UEFI and BIOS firmware modes, but nothing works.
I’ve also tried different versions of Windows, including the Tiny version.
I’m running ZimaOS on a Lenovo M910q (i7 7700T).
Please provide this:
The specs of your machine;
The version of your OS;
The detailed steps that you produced this result.
Would you reproduce it and take a screen record of it? That’s helpful. Look forward to your feedback.
PS. Use the clean image of Windows.
@Zima-Giorgio ,
Thank you very much for your response.
As requested, please find below the information and images.
This is the specification of my machine:
I’m running ZimaOS 1.3.3.
Below are the steps I’m following to try installing Windows 10 via ZVM:
I download the Windows 10 image available on the first ZVM installation screen.
After the download, I configure the disk space, memory, and boot mode — in this first case, UEFI.
The first screen shows the ZIMA logo and the loading activity icon.
Result: The screen stays like that indefinitely, for hours.
I tried another option, this time configuring the boot mode to BIOS.
In this mode, the Windows logo appears, the loading activity icon spins, but shortly after, the screen turns black and remains like that.
If you need any more information, just let me know.
Once again, thank you very much for your help.

Hi, I just tried to install the Windows 10 VM as well.
I did not use the one-click downloaded image. Instead, I use zh-cn_windows_10_consumer_editions_version_22h2_updated_april_2025_x64_dvd_a39ebe02.iso.
I noticed the black screen one time. It seems to be a performance issue. The ZVM is a little poor in performance when compared to a physical machine.
Because I also waited on this screen for a not short time .
Anyway, we will look at this issue, and before that, you could try to obtain the win10 image from another source and install it again. Win11 is also worth a try. Look forward to your feedback.

There is also the same user in Discord who is experiencing this issue, he seems to solve the problem, maybe this is a reference, you can try his workaround.

Issue resolved by following Jerry’s suggestion and checking the post on Discord.
In the BIOS, I enabled Intel Virtualization Technology.
Thank you all very much for your help.
