Unable to create user account on new install

I have installed ZimaOS 1.5 into a Proxmox virtual machine for testing. Got it installed but am unable to set up a local account.. Keep getting the message "Account initialization failed Key does not exist.

Any help would be appreciated

I’ve seen this error before in Proxmox, and I think it usually comes down to the VM’s hardware profile. I’d suggest trying two things:

I believe the safest setup is to use a VirtIO SCSI or SATA disk instead of IDE. IDE often stops ZimaOS from creating the initial account key.

I also think it helps to temporarily disable the Proxmox “QEMU Guest Agent” during installation. When it’s active too early, the first-boot setup sometimes can’t generate the user key properly.

If it still fails, I’d suggest reinstalling using BIOS (SeaBIOS) instead of UEFI, that tends to complete cleanly.

This combination normally lets the account creation go through without issues.
