Transfer speed slow in windows explorer but ok with ZimaOS client?

Hi. Im a new user to ZimaOS.

I am running ZimaOS v1.5.0 on an older Gateway sx2100-ew20p
Processor: a rather anemic amd e2-1800.
RAM: 6 gb ddr3 memory in dual channel.
Hard Drives: 2 x western digital black 2TB drives. drives are configured as software raid 1.
Network: 1 gigabit NIC (not sure of the vendor)

I am getting some strange transfer speeds to the array. If I use Windows 11 File Explorer with the share mapped to a drive letter, I am getting terrible transfer speeds - around 30MB/s upload.

But…

If I upload through FILES from the ZimaOS dashboard I am getting a respectable 98 MB/s reported transfer speed in the app - which is close enough to the gigabit ethernet for me.

Can anoyone give me some ideas as to what might be going on.

Please note that this zima server has been built for my inlaws to store thier documents on to replace their aging DNS-321. I know the hardware is bit weak but I don’t see that being the reason for the inconsistenacy between file explorer and the ZimaOS dashboard/client.

I run my own unRaid server on my home network and have consistent up/down transfer speeds on a 10G DAC link to my own NAS. Im adding this bit of info in as I don’t THINK this a configuration issue on my PC but Im open to entertaining suggestions.

Are you using Tailscale? That looks like the typical SMB speed issue that Tailscale causes.

I am not using tailscale. I have just built this little NAS and am testing it on my home network first before taking to the inlaws.

I will likely use tailscale in the future to help administer their stuff but for right now Im trying to figure out this strange issue while I have it connected at my house.

but for the sake of full disclosure, I did install Tailscale breifly, but opted to uninstall it for now. I noticed this issue AFTER uninstalling tailscale. I have no idea if the issue existed prior to having tail scale as I had only dropped a file our two on the share via the zimaOS app - before I went to bed last night.

Do you use Pihole or any other docker?

I mean in the Windows, do you have Tailscale installed? This is a known issue with them, whenever I need to copy things to my NAS I just close Tailscale and it immediately saturates 100% of the NIC bandwidth. Whenever Tailscale is open it gets stuck between 30~40MB/s instead of the usual 250MB/s.

No pihole

No, tailscale is not installed on my pc.
