[Solved] Share entire USB Drive?

I have a USB hard drive plugged into my ZimaOS server. I disconnected it to plug it directly into another computer and I’ve reconnected it. ZimaOS recognizes the drive but it is no longer shared on my network, and I can’t find the option to enable it. The internal drive is shared, and I can access it without problem from Windows, but I want to share the entire USB drive, not just individual folders. How do I do this?

Thank you for asking this question.

This is a very crafty operation on ZimaOS.

Brief Steps:

  • In the Files app, find and click your USB drive icon.
  • In Files, change the breadcrumb path to /. (It is essentially /media folder underlying.)
  • Right-click the corresponding directory on the USB drive and share it.

Hope you succeed!

Giorgio is suggesting, you can share the entire USB drive, but ZimaOS hides the root of the disk in the Files interface. The workaround is to expose the actual mount point.

Open Files, click your USB drive so it loads, then in the breadcrumb bar at the top change the path to just /. That takes you to the real filesystem. Go into /media, find the folder that represents your USB drive, right-click it, and enable sharing. That shares the full drive exactly the way you want.
