Hello everyone,
I wanted to share a short interim feedback based on my current experience with ZimaOS and CasaOS.
One thing that has been bothering me lately is the situation around AMD support. It feels like this area has been somewhat neglected. For users running AMD hardware, better optimization and support would make a significant difference and greatly improve the overall experience.
Another important point is CasaOS. In the past, CasaOS was a very interesting alternative for me, especially because it could be installed on an Ubuntu Server. This gave users a lot of freedom to customize and build their system exactly the way they wanted — which is something many of us really value.
That’s why it’s quite disappointing to see that CasaOS hasn’t received meaningful updates since 2024. It feels like the focus has shifted entirely towards ZimaOS, leaving CasaOS somewhat behind.
In my opinion, this is a missed opportunity. CasaOS represented a more “open” and flexible approach, while ZimaOS is more structured and opinionated. Having both options actively maintained created a great balance between simplicity and full control.
My suggestions would be:
-
Improve and prioritize AMD support
-
Don’t neglect CasaOS
-
Bring back more focus on flexibility and user freedom for advanced users
I believe that with a bit more attention and care, both platforms could unlock much more of their potential.
Best regards
