Install Zima on the ugreen DXP4800plus?

I have bought the ugreen DXP4800plus and I am keen to try Zima on it. Is there any issues I should be aware off?
Also as the NAS has some nvme slots for cache can these be utilised in Zima for that purpose?

Thanks.

I believe ZimaOS should run fine on the UGREEN DXP4800 Plus, because it’s basically standard x86 hardware, but I suggest being aware of a couple of “NAS platform” gotchas:

  • BIOS / boot mode: you may need to enable USB boot + UEFI options (UGREEN BIOS can be a bit locked down depending on model/firmware).
  • NIC / drivers: most units are fine, but if storage/network behaves weirdly, it’s usually a driver/firmware combo issue (not a ZimaOS issue).
  • Disk visibility: if UGREEN has any special RAID mode enabled, disable it and run disks as plain AHCI/JBOD for best results.

NVMe cache slots

I suggest treating the NVMe slots as normal NVMe storage in ZimaOS.
Right now ZimaOS doesn’t support “dedicated cache drives” (like Synology/QNAP SSD cache) in the UI, so you can definitely use the NVMe drives, but as storage/appdata/VM drives, not true system-level cache (yet).

If you do install it, I suggest posting:

  • CPU + RAM
  • NIC model
  • lspci and lsblk
So the community can confirm full compatibility fast.
