Hi everyone,
As the IceWhale community continues to grow and thrive around ZimaOS and all our Zima products, so does the need for passionate, knowledgeable members to help us guide it.
Our philosophy is simple: this community is community-driven. To help us keep this forum a welcoming, productive, and collaborative space, we are officially opening up our Community Moderator recruitment process.
This isn’t a call for “gatekeepers” or “police.” This is an invitation for community leaders.
What is a Forum Moderator?
Our Moderators are the heart of the community. They are guides and partners, not just for users, but for the IceWhale team.
A Moderator’s primary role is to:
-
Be a Welcoming Partner : Greet new members and help them find their way.
-
Be a Helpful Guide: Use your ZimaOS/technical expertise to answer questions and guide users to the right solutions.
-
Be an Organizer: Keep the forum tidy and productive by organizing topics, applying tags (like
zimaos-tips), and gently reminding users of our guidelines. -
Be the Bridge: Act as a vital link, sharing community feedback and sentiment directly with the IceWhale team.
-
Be an Empathetic Leader: Lead by example with patience, empathy, and a rational, problem-solving attitude.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for individuals who:
-
Are passionate and knowledgeable about Zima products, especially ZimaOS.
-
Are already active and helpful members of our community.
-
Believe in our “community-driven” philosophy and lead with patience and empathy.
-
Have strong judgment and can remain calm and professional, even in a heated technical debate.
-
Are proactive and genuinely want to help create the best possible space for Zima users.
What Are the Perks?
This is a volunteer role, but it comes with deep recognition and unique privileges:
-
A Direct Line to the Team: You’ll be invited to our private, internal Moderator chat (e.g., on Discord and the private forum category/channel) to collaborate directly with the IceWhale team.
-
Insider Access: Be the first to know about new features and get early access to our product roadmap.
-
Beta Testing: Get early access to new ZimaOS builds and hardware for testing and feedback.
-
Recognition: Receive an official “Moderator” badge on the forum.
-
Real Influence: Have a direct hand in shaping the future of our community and, by extension, our products.
How to Apply
If you are interested in this partnership, please send a Direct Message to @Zima-Giorgio with the subject line “Moderator Application.”
Please include the following in your message:
-
A brief introduction of yourself and why you’re interested in the role.
-
A link to one post or comment here on the forum that you are particularly proud of (e.g., a helpful tutorial, a great answer, or constructive feedback you gave).
-
Your philosophy on what makes a great community.
We will review applications as they come in and will reach out to qualified candidates for a follow-up chat.
Thank you for being such an essential part of this community.
Cheers, The IceWhale Community
