Error when trying to connect with server - No GPU

Hi everyone!
I’m new in this, and I’ve been trying to set up a Home Server with some spare components I had changed from my gaming PC. I had a Ryzen 3600, MB MSI B450M-A Pro Max, 16GB RAM DDR4; so I bought a case, 450W PSU and a pair of HDDs for storage. I set it all up and installed ZimaOS from a flashdrive. I didn’t buy or thought about using a GPU in the first place, for what I had talked with some Reddit users, I didn’t need it for my purpose.

There’s where my problems started, there was no image in the screen. I sorted that out the hard way, dismounted my gaming PC’s GPU and installed it, with all the cables and MB out, that was quite a mess. Finally, I installed ZimaOS, set my server up, RAM, HDDs, all was working. I established a static IP adress for the server in my Internet company configuration so I didn’t have any problem after reseting the server or something like that (at least, that’s what I was adviced to do), used Zima Client in my iPhone and checked it worked fine, there was no problem at all.

I turned off the server, changed the GPU back to my gaming PC, turned it on. Turned on server, tried to connect from Zima Client to the server, and couldn’t be reached. For what I’ve been asking some people on Reddit, and asked AI also, it seems the problem is that there’s no GPU, so my MB gets stuck when trying to load the OS.

I just wanted to ask if it is necessary to have a GPU for the ZimaOS to run properly the server, or if I may have done something wrong during the hole process

The issue is most likely hardware, not ZimaOS. A Ryzen 5 3600 has no integrated graphics, and many MSI B450 motherboards won’t complete POST without a GPU installed. ZimaOS itself doesn’t require a GPU after installation, but your motherboard may. Check whether your BIOS has a “Headless”/“Halt on errors” option or update the BIOS. If your board can’t boot without a GPU, you’ll need either a cheap basic GPU or a motherboard/CPU combination that supports headless operation.

With your comment, and a pair of Reddit users who answered me to set VGA Detection to Ignore, and Full Screen Logo Display do Inactive, both options through the BIOS as you told as well, and it has already been solved. I have the server running smoothly without GPU or integrated GPU, and my PC running also perfectly with its GPU installed.
