Computers on network see zima samba but nothing is there when going to ip address

Hi again,
I’ve set up a zimaos on a minipc, I have both macs and pcs on my network and the all of the computers can see the samba shares correctly except for 2 windows 10 boxes for some reason.

They both see the samba computer in the network window but if I open that icon or go to the ip address of the zima box it just sits there with an empty window.

Both computers can access the the zima shares through the web interface though.

I’m thinking this is more a windows things than zima but I’m not sure what would cause it.

Any help appreciated!
Alex

What are the results if you create a new share for a new subaccount?

That’s why I think it’s a windows issue and not a zima issue. I don’t even get a chance to log into the samba share, it just shows up as an empty window. Creating a new share or new user won’t make a difference.

Can I use a second computer for testing?

I have 4 desktop pcs, 2 laptop pcs and 2 macs, all but two of the desktops work.

I installed the zima client and I’m able to get on the samba shares now. none of the other machines need to use the zima client though. Very odd behavior.

I have the same issue on Windows 10.
But I can see the shared folder if enter the IP address : \\192.168.x.x
I can also acces the folders if I write the folder name : \\mynasname\myfolder\ as well as by the IP : \\192.168.x.x\myfolder
But can see nothing under \\mynasname\

There’s a YouTube video by this fellow Brandon Hopkins, TechHutTV, where’s he showing people how to setup a media server within Proxmox running under Ubuntu Server. It’s the one from about a year ago, more or less. In that detailed setup video he’s showing people how to get Samba setup, and then he’s testing the Samba connection from other (virtual) computers to verify it works. At one point he runs into trouble connecting to or from the Windows VM, and then makes the fix. Because this wasn’t so important to me, I wasn’t paying close attention, so I can’t explain what the solution was. However whatever solution he had may well be where your system is also misconfigured. If was near the beginning of the lengthy video. Good luck.

@yesthisbig @Nad_1 please follow these steps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNxGpqnAysY

It’s somewhat of a known problem with some Windows 11 versions and it has been validated to work with some people in our Discord.

@vipper_666 Thank you, but I don’t realy have the same issue mentioned in the video.
I have access to the Zima server/NAS but there is nothing in it.
While I have access to shared folders by typing them directly (only if shared as guest) : \\mynasname\mysharedfolder\
