What does this message mean an how do i fix it. This OS is supposed to be for easy for people not that tech savoy far from it i’m afraid when all the apps stop working for no reason.
Cannot connect to the docker daemon at
unix:///var/run/docker.sock. is the docker daemon running?
Interesting. A lot of us are running ZimaOS and other Docker functionality alongside it without any issues. Zima has a VERY small linux OS base footprint and things are very snappy even on 15 year old hardware (my development server).
The truth is, if you’re looking for a simple, user-friendly NAS operating system, ZimaOS isn’t the right choice.
I started from scratch myself, with no prior knowledge of ZimaOS or Linux. It was — and still is — a disaster. I now own six ZimaBoard 2 units; the hardware is excellent, but the operating system is a catastrophe!
There isn’t even a built-in solution for a full backup!
The data backups you can create are incomplete, but you only realize this if you manually check every single file.
The translations — at least the German ones — are simply abysmal. It was so bad that, after the update to 1.7, I no longer knew what the buttons meant because they were translated so incorrectly. I’ve switched to using English exclusively now.
Copying large amounts of data takes days. I’ve never experienced anything like it.
Honestly, I’m thinking about switching back to Synology.
i have managed to resolve the issue after much searching online there was a conflict between the web address from the old OS . the new OS update changed the address used to connect The apps. Crazy Zima surely you test these things first before putting the update out.
I do my testing on a little development server before putting it into production and I have had very few issues with their upgrades. I am sure you can understand that they can’t test everything that you could potentially have as containers on your system. I use little scripts that test the basics for my installed apps.
